We recently purchased a home at Sonata Place, Andergrove which was designed and constructed by Fergus Builders.
Our decision to use the services of this company was based on their long history in the industry. We were also won over by their motto – "Homes with a heart" – though at the time we did not realise just how well the company lives up to that slogan.
Building a home is often a painful process, but the team at Fergus Builders ensured that this was not our experience at all. They were always pleasant, helpful and polite, and were at pains to answer all of our questions – no matter how "silly" or annoying we feared that our queries might be! We often popped out to the site or emailed or phoned and we always found the team to be helpful and their responses prompt.
Following our final inspection there were some minor matters that required rectification or "touching up", and once again there were no hassles or arguments – everything was quickly sorted by the team at Fergus Builders.
We were most impressed with the quality of work performed. The obvious pride in their workmanship truly showed that there was heart in this home!
We would confidently recommend Fergus Builders, and would not hesitate to engage their services again ourselves.

As an owner building from the other side of the country I had to trust that Fergus Builders would construct the house in a professional & honest fashion.
At all stages of the construction I was kept informed of the progress & sent photos confirming the works completed. After inspection by an independent building inspector I was advised that the build was of a high standard compared to others he had seen in that area.
Consequently I have been able to rent the property out quickly due to the high quality of finish & efficient use of space in the design. I would use Fergus for any future builds I may consider in Mackay.

I am a real estate agent & have been working for Ray White Mackay since 2005. It was a dream to have a house of my own. I bought a block of land & wanted a specific plan built – it was a unit that I saw in the Northern Beaches that was built by Fergus Builders.
When I first called up Fergus Builders, they were extremely helpful & within ten minutes Alison Eckstein e-mailed me the plan. My partner & I looked at the plan & I phoned them the next day.
The receptionist was very friendly – she even remembered my voice from the previous day. Alison seemed very excited & willing to help – she made an appointment for me that same day!
I took the plan with me & showed her the changes that I wanted – I needed a bigger bedroom. She cleverly suggested that we take out the whole house one meter to the front. This was a decision we never regretted.
Alison worked out a quotation for me that was very reasonable & I was happy with the detail she put in it. But then we wanted an air conditioner, then we had to put up a detention tank, then it was a solar system. Every time we made a change, Alison was just too happy to amend another quotation & do everything over again!
This wonderful lady gave me a list of all the suppliers of the various materials I had to choose, like tiles, bathroom appliances, kitchen cupboards, bricks etc. She explained the process to me & sometimes had to do it a few times over again.
Alison also helped me choose the colour schemes for the outside of the house. She really did a good job, as I am more than pleased with the colours of my house! I have received a lot of compliments on my house already.
Alison sent me countless e-mails, reminding me of stuff that I needed to do, or that I needed to send through to her. She was really guiding me through the whole process, & seemed as excited as I was!
Alison also helped me sort out my payments from the bank – something that was not even her responsibility.
As the stages progressed, she always called me & told me what is happening! I would get a call from her saying: “ Dolla, the electrician is going in. The site manager will meet you there so that you can make sure where you want the power points.” I also knew every little detail that was going on. She let me know when the kitchen was going in, when the bathroom was going in, the cupboards, the painting, the roof. She kept me informed & excited.
The other staff & workers were extremely friendly & helpful – they were always showing respect & did a fantastic job.
Nathan Borg was also extremely patient & helpful. He is really a very professional person. He is friendly & knows his product. This man is definitely an asset to the company.
Building with Fergus Builders it was a wonderful experience. It was stress free & very exciting. I would really recommend them with an open heart to any person who wants to build a house.
The workmanship in the house is really fantastic. I am very happy about everything. These people have pride in what they are doing – it is not just a job for them.
When the house neared completion, I told Alison that my landlord gave me notice to leave. It was two weeks before actual completion of the new house. Alison & the team were so wonderful, the house was completed before I was due to move out of my rental property!
I am really thankful for everything they have done for me. They walked the extra mile for us. They are not just builders - they care for people!
